(b)     Courses:

The Bachelor of Arts (Hons) course covers a period of three academic years and is known in the first year of study as the B.A. (Hons) Part I, in the second year of study as the B.A. (Gen/Hons) Part II Course and third year of study as the BA (Hons) Part III Course.

B.Sc. Honours

A Candidate for the B.Sc. (Honours) Examination shall be required to offer

  1. One Honours subject comprising eight papers.
  2. Two subsidiary subjects comprising four papers.
  3. One language as composition comprising two papers.
  4. One paper on Environmental Studies.

The fifteen papers will be divided into three parts marking five papers for each of B.Sc. Hons Part I, Part II & Part III examinations.

B.Sc. (Hons) Part I             –   Paper I & Paper II of the Hons. Subject, 1st paper of the two

Subsidiary subjects and one paper of composition Total

Five papers.

B.Sc. (Hons) Part II          –     Paper III & IV of Hons subject 2nd  papers of the two

Subsidiary subjects and one paper of composition Total

Five papers.

B.Sc. (Hons) Part III        –      Paper Vth to VIIIth of the Hons. Subject and one paper on

Environmental Studies. Total 5 papers.

Each of these papers shall carry 100 marks.

  1. i) In case of a subsidiary subjects requiring practical, it will include 25 marks.
  2. ii) Hons paper I & II shall carry 75 marks each and a practical for 50 marks.

iii)                 Papers VIII shall be a full paper of practical examination.

  1. iv) Paper V, VI & VII shall be full theory papers each carrying 100 marks. But in

Physics/Geology.Paper V, VI, VII , VIII will be of 75 marks each & Practical Paper will be of 100 marks.

A candidate for the B.Sc. (Hons) examination shall choose any one of the following groups.

  1. Physics (H), Sub          : Mathematics & Chemistry
  2. Chemistry (H), Sub     : Math & Physics or Botany & Zoology.
  3. Bot (H), Sub                  : Chem + Zoology
  4. Zool (H), Sub                : Chem + Botany
  5. Geology(H), Sub          : Phy, Chem or Bot, Zool or Phy, Math
  6. Math (H), Sub              : Phy & Chem Provided that a candidate shall not choose

(i) Mathematics as Hons sub unless he/she has passed the I.Sc. Examination in Physics and Mathematics

(ii) Physics as Hons Sub unless he/she has passed the I.Sc. Examination in Physics& Mathematics

(iii) Chemistry as Hons. Sub unless he/she has passed the I.Sc. Examination in Chemistry with Math or Biology

(iv) Bot/Zool as Hons Subject unless he/she has passed the I.Sc. Examination in Biology and

(v) Geology unless he has passed the I.Sc. Examination in Geology

A candidate shall choose such subjects only in which he/she has passed the intermediate Science examination.

COMPOSITION

A candidate shall choose either (a) or (b) for composition.

  1. a) Hindi  – One full paper of 100 marks for each of the part I and Part II exam.
  2. b) N H Hindi – 50 marks and one of the following languages for 50 marks in each of part I & part II examination English & Urdu .
